Fashion Beyond Waste is the curatorial format created by Zerow to explore new perspectives on circular fashion through creativity, materials research and design experimentation.

Each edition brings together designers, brands and projects that work with recovered or deadstock materials, creating a meeting point between design, sustainability and innovation.

Third Edition - Gherardini Special Guest

Gherardini, the historic Florentine leather goods brand, took part as special guest in the third edition of Fashion Beyond Waste, held from 13 to 15 January during Pitti Uomo.

For the occasion, the Florentine brand reinterpreted one of its most iconic models, the Piattina, through a limited edition made with deadstock leathers selected by Zerow.

The project represents the meeting of Italian leather goods heritage and contemporary research into material circularity, turning high-quality production surpluses into new design objects.

Zerow's Material Library

Alongside the Gherardini project, the third edition also hosted Zerow's Material Library, a selection of over 5,000 deadstock fabrics and leathers from the stock of the finest Italian luxury companies.

Conceived as a space for discovery and research, the library allowed designers, brands, creatives and fashion students to explore up close unique materials, recovered and ready to be reintroduced into the creative process.

A living archive that makes Zerow's vision tangible: reducing waste and turning surpluses into new design opportunities.

The installations by Giulia Ber Tacchini

Completing the exhibition route, designer Giulia Ber Tacchini presented a double sculptural installation that turned the space into an immersive experience.

Two monumental figures, over 2.5 metres tall, took shape as scenic presences along the exhibition route: two "monsters" made entirely from recovered materials.

The first sculpture was made using surplus fabrics from the Gherardini archives, while the second took shape through leather offcuts selected by Zerow.

Through these hybrid, symbolic creatures, the installation made tangible the message at the heart of Fashion Beyond Waste: even what starts out as surplus or waste can become creative matter, giving rise to new forms, new stories and new possibilities.

Fashion Beyond Waste, an invitation to rethink the value of materials and the way we imagine, design and produce fashion.
