volevo sperimentare con tessuti nuovi per me e trovando questi metraggi ridotti la scelta si è rivelata molto conveniente. E comunque i materiali rimangono di qualità e recuperati con cura.
Brutalist design, Italian craftsmanship and recovered materials meet in the FONDAMENTA and FONDAMENTA VOL II collections by SCA\JA. Two capsules presented during Fashion Beyond Waste and developed also thanks to the collaboration with Zerow.
The Collaboration
SCA\JA, an independent footwear brand, combines brutalist aesthetics and Italian craftsmanship translating architectural forms and industrial materials into wearable objects with sculptural lines.
The brand took part in two editions of Fashion Beyond Waste, the curatorial format created by Zerow dedicated to circular fashion.
During the second edition of the event, hosted in the spaces of Villa Biagiotti in Florence, SCA\JA presented a selection of models from the FONDAMENTA collection, made with deadstock materials.
Later, the brand was again a protagonist of the Berlin Edition of Fashion Beyond Waste, where it showed the FONDAMENTA VOL II capsule, developed using materials supplied by Zerow.
The Collection
The FONDAMENTA VOL I and II collections are born from the desire to redefine footwear design through a language that combines traditional craftsmanship and industrial construction.
The models in the collection feature pure forms, austere structures and sculptural silhouettes, inspired by the material strength of brutalist architecture and the imperfect beauty of urban landscapes.
A distinctive element of the project is the use of concrete as a structural and symbolic material: reinterpreted experimentally, it becomes an integral part of the brand's identity, creating a dialogue between matter, design and function.
The collection explores new possibilities for contemporary footwear, combining comfort, versatility and a radical vision of design.
The Materials
To develop the capsules presented during Fashion Beyond Waste, SCA\JA worked with footwear leathers from production surpluses and from the selection of materials made available by Zerow.
High-quality materials, originally destined for the productions of Italian luxury houses, that find a new application through the brand's experimental design.
Integrated into sculptural structures and innovative constructions, these leathers show how supply chain surpluses can become new foundations for a more circular approach to footwear design.
