The Collaboration

Gherardini, the historic Florentine leather goods brand, participated as a special guest at the third edition of Fashion Beyond Waste , the curatorial format created by Zerow that brings together brands, designers, and artists to explore new perspectives on sustainability in fashion.

From this meeting, a special collaboration was born between Zerow and Gherardini that combines the heritage of Italian leather goods and research into the circularity of materials .

Reinterpreting an icon

For this collaboration, Gherardini chose to work on one of the brand's most iconic models: the Piattina .
Created in the 1970s and 1980s, this bag has become a symbol of essential and functional elegance over the years. Its minimalist shape and lightweight design have made it one of the most recognizable bags in the Gherardini universe.

For Fashion Beyond Waste, the model has been reinterpreted through a limited edition made using deadstock leathers from Zerow's materials archive.

High-quality materials recovered from the stocks of top Italian luxury brands, transformed into a new collection that showcases the value of circularity.

The Materials

For this special edition of the Piattina, Gherardini worked on a selection of smooth nappa leathers in different shades , creating a broad and vibrant chromatic composition.

The soft, uniform surfaces of the nappa enhance the essential shape of the bag, allowing the color to become the true protagonist of the project.

During Fashion Beyond Waste, the bags were displayed on a wall as a modular composition of colors , transforming the iconic Gherardini model into a true scenographic element.
