For the Butterfly Nebula capsule collection, presented during the Berlin edition of Zerow's curatorial event Fashion Beyond Waste on the occasion of Berlin Fashion Week, Maria Chany chose to work with Zerow on selecting the leathers that brought the collection to life.
The Collaboration
Maria Chany is an avant-garde brand that explores fashion as a form of identity and artistic expression, distinguished by creations with sculptural silhouettes, amplified proportions and futuristic imagery, where organic and technological elements merge into ever-changing narrative universes.
On the occasion of Fashion Beyond Waste — Berlin Edition, Maria Chany presented the BUTTERFLY NEBULA capsule, made with offcuts, surpluses and recycled materials selected by Zerow, exploring the balance between contemporary aesthetics and conscious production.
The Collection
The BUTTERFLY NEBULA capsule explores the theme of the transformation of matter and light, reflecting on metamorphosis as a universal law: from seed to flower, up to the transformation of matter into energy and space.
The silhouettes, often ample and structured, combine sculptural forms, experimental constructions and heterogeneous materials, giving life to garments that sit between fashion, art and conceptual research.
Each look thus becomes part of a narrative world, in which the body turns into a space of expression and change.
The Materials
To make the BUTTERFLY NEBULA capsule, Maria Chany carefully chose a selection of fine deadstock garment leathers supplied by Zerow: lambskin nappa and half calfskins with a soft hand in shades of black.
Deadstock materials, recovered from the production surpluses of Italian luxury houses, which through the designer's work are reinterpreted within sculptural structures and experimental constructions.
The project shows how existing materials too can become part of new creative narratives
